DAVID KNIGHT IRON MAN OF ENDURO
The story of Enduro great David Knight will be released on DVD by Duke USA on January 17, 2008.
The ultra-competitive sport of Enduro has produced many greats, but one man stands above them all – David Knight.
His childhood dream of becoming a world-beater has been in dramatic style – he is a two-times World Enduro Champion, six-times British Enduro Champion and in 2007 won the USA’s Grand National Cross Country series at his first attempt! Plus, ‘Knighter’ has notched up win after win on high profile, extreme events, including Last Man Standing, Erzberg, AMA Endurocross and more.
Now, the full story of this truly incredible sportsman is told in David Knight – Iron Man of Enduro. The DVD, narrated by Long Way Round and the Long Way Down star Charley Boorman, traces Knight’s life from his early days at home in the Isle of Man to global domination, and follows the 29-year-old throughout a hectic ‘07 season.
Charley explained why he agreed to get involved: “Ever since I started training for the Dakar Rally, which I did last year, David Knight’s name constantly came up, as I was doing the Hare & Hound races and two-day Enduros myself.”
‘I was lucky enough to meet him a couple of times, especially as he was going past me on his back wheel shouting at me to get out of the way as I wasn’t fast enough!’
‘He has an immense ability and is an inspiration to many, and that’s why I got involved with the DVD, which shows how incredibly talented the man is.’
David Knight – Iron Man of Enduro features archive home movie of the young Knight in action, and pictures from the family’s private photo album. It is fascinating to discover where this phenomenal rider has come from, and the influence of his Isle of Man homeland and close-knit family, including his much-missed dad.
Interviews with Knight, filmed exclusively for this DVD, let viewers in on the secret of his success, and reveal what makes this remarkable sportsman tick.
The program is also packed with jaw-dropping action and awesome extreme riding.
Knight’s performance on the Last Man Standing event is simply breathtaking. He annihilates the field and tames the bike-breaking and rider-breaking terrain with incredible style. Footage from the 2006 Weston Beach Race demonstrates his strength, talent and dogged determination. As rivals are forced out of the three-hour race by exhaustion, leaving their machines abandoned in the sand, Knighter rides on – and when he gets stuck, he simply picks up his machine and continues.
Some of this amazing footage simply has to be seen to be believed – including the fantastic on-bike film that shows just what the extreme conditions of Enduro put these riders through.
For many, a highlight of David Knight – Iron Man of Enduro will be the extensive coverage of Knight’s attack on the GNCC series in 2007. From the early season woes, where broken bones and broken bikes put his championship hopes in jeopardy, to the thrilling final round, the full story of David’s year is here – complete with exclusive interviews with his team, and the man himself.
Plus, David Knight – Iron Man of Enduro is packed with extras, including The Tough One, exclusive interviews – including a chat with motocross king Stefan Everts – and much more.
The DAVID KNIGHT STORY is available now, (90 minutes) NTSC priced at $29.95 from leading video outlets or direct from www.dukevideousa.com , or call 800.561.0754.
