Sad news, Evel Knievel passed away today, the true God Father of free style took the big digger today. After 69 years of abuse, 40 broken bones, a replaced liver the old boy finally crashed.
I think of him every week, I drive by the Snake River jump area and the dirt ramp is still there, so I look and think about him. What a guy, he sure listened to his own drummer and went his own way. The new jump kids got nothing on the original, until they start jumping a Harley……. We’ll see what Metzger is really made of.
So we say good bye to a true legend, take it easy Evel, you were a work of art.

Riding bikes back then as a wee lad, I remeber the entire family huddled around the radio listening to the live broadcast of his snaker river jump. Network TV may not have shown it live because they feared the bad press airing a snuff film live…I remember go to the drive in with the family and watching the George Hamilton play Evel in the movie, my mom did not mind I remember her saying she just liked looking at George Hamilton…I remember…the list is to long for this comment. As for the Harley daredevils I don’t see a big call for vintage Harley bus jumping events. As the saying goes every dog has his day, Evel had years. Cheers
